The Loire flows through a long, wide valley, where the most extensive vineyard in France has been established.
It was thought that vines had been growing on the banks of the Loire since the earliest years of our era. Traces discovered in the Auvergne attest to its presence from the 5th century. As early as the 11th century, the Dutch consumed Loire wines, which they could easily transport up the river to Holland. In England too, the wines of Poitou and Anjou were extremely popular.
Along the Loire and on the banks of its tributaries, vines grow on sunny slopes where the grapes ripen in the best conditions, offering wines perfect for all occasions: whites, rosés, reds, sparkling and perlants, in a range from the simplest to the most elegant.
