Situated at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a wall that is a delight for climbing enthusiasts, Gigondas is, after Châteauneuf-du-pape, the most famous AOP in the region. It covers 1200 hectares where a great variety of terroirs coexist, whose characteristics are found in the wines: on the higher ground, sand and limestones, on the lower ground, pebbles and alluvial soils. The best wines have a beautiful intense colour, are fruity and powerful, without being dominated by tannins.
- Nose: intense and spicy. Notes of coffee, black pepper and black fruits.
- Palate: tasty. Fine and silky tannins, liquorice finish.
Tasting date: May 2023.
OUR OPINION: how beautiful this Gigondas is! Powerful, fragrant, it is a delight!
- Nose: elegant and intense. Aromas of rosemary, black and red fruits, violet and a touch of laurel.
- Palate: light and fresh. Fine tannins. Finish on laurel notes.
Tasting date: March 2023.
OUR OPINION: this Gigondas wine has a special aroma, it is elegant and fine. It gains in strength the next day after opening. A few extra years in the cellar will allow it to become more complex and powerful, as it has good ageing potential.
