The most prestigious villages that are allowed to mention the name of the commune on their label are gathered on the left bank of the Rhône river. They already belong to the Pre-Alps and offer one of the most beautiful views of the region.
The soils are very varied and the first vines were planted here as early as 600 BC. The Romans then carried out a significant work to develop the region by creating roads, cities and agricultural domains at the origin of the winegrowing. The presence of the Rhone River offered them an ideal means of transportation and favored commercial exchanges.
