Collioure is a little jewel situated on the sea front in the Côtes du Roussillon. Its medieval castle and picturesque church have been painted many times by Matisse and the representatives of Fauvism, as they were fascinated by the light that reigned in this port city.
The Greeks had already begun to transform the terraces into vineyards. On the arid, mainly schistose soils, sunny and humidified by the proximity of the sea, the wines obtain a very particular fullness and structure. The blend of Grenache noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre produces dark, spicy and very fine red wines, while Grenache gris and Grenache blanc produce the best white wines on the coast.
