The "Rosé des Riceys" designation is reserved for still rosé wines made in Champagne and exclusively from Pinot Noir. From the beginning of the 18th century, the wines of Riceys are the object of an important trade with the Netherlands and Belgium.
The maturity of the grapes is crucial in the elaboration of the "Rosé des Riceys", so it can only be produced in the most favorable years. It is generally produced from old vines of about forty years, planted on sloping and sunny hillsides. In the cellar, the winemaker, thanks to the finesse of his palate and his memory, will determine the right moment for devatting, when the wine reveals the so particular aromas of the "rosé des riceys".
Much appreciated by the Roi Soleil, this wine is considered one of the best rosés in France.
