The soils diversity of the Alsatian terroir can be found in the fifty classified 'grands crus' defined and delimited since the 1970s. The originality of each terroir is taken into consideration in this designation, and more particularly its soil, its orientation and its exposure.
With a few exceptions, only the four noble grape varieties - gewürztraminer, riesling, muscat and pinot gris - currently benefit from the Alsace Grand Cru designation.
- Nose: intense, fruity and floral. First discreetly smoky notes, aromas of grilled hazelnut, apricot, lychee, exotic fruits, ginger and honey.
- Palate: tender and taut with a nice acidity. Long and persistent finish.
Tasting date: January 2021
OUR OPINION: the aromatic persistence of this grand cru is impressive, this wine is superb because it has a beautiful tension.
This elegant 2013 vintage reveals a nose with first petroleum aromas, which opens gradually on complex aromas of lemon, mandarin, candied orange and white peach. The palate is lively, mineral and lemony. The finish has a fine aromatic persistance and stretches on delicate notes of quinces. A success.
