The great region of the Corbières is distinguished by its variety of soils and climates. The vines grow on schists from the primary era, limestones and sands from the secondary era, marls from the tertiary era and pebbles from the quaternary era. Eleven terroirs are located in these areas with different characteristics.
The terroir of Boutenac includes soils from the secondary and tertiary eras in which the old vines take deep roots in order to satisfy their need for water. They draw all the minerals they need to produce the grapes that give the wines their rich, complex flavours and make them the finest expressions of the designation.
