Saint-Péray is an designation of about 60 hectares, located on the right bank of the Rhône river and facing the city of Valence; a beneficial proximity that allowed it to prosper rapidly since the High Middle Ages.
The vineyard of Saint-Péray is composed exclusively of white grape varieties and benefits from an abundance of sunshine. Its granitic, calcareous and clayey-limestone soils give birth to wines with tasty aromas of flowers, which have a good aptitude for ageing.
The sparkling capacity of the wines of this region has allowed it to establish a good reputation for its sparkling wines, but excellent still white wines are currently produced here, which are relatively uncommon due to the small size of the vineyards, but are increasingly sought after for their remarkable quality-price ratio.
