OUR OPINION: Very good!
The mention Les Vignes d'à Côté designates the vineyard owned by the Cuilleron estate in the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes areas. Distributed on each side of the Rhône, this Collines Rhodaniennes area offers a rich mosaic of terroirs where the winemaker can give free rein to his creativity.
The cuvée Viognier Les Vignes d'à Côté is a blend of plots located both on the Rhône stream right bank, where we can find the same million years old granitic soils as those giving birth to the Saint-Joseph and Côte Rôtie wines, and on the left bank, where the more recent soils are made up of alluvium deposited by the Isère stream, sometimes sandy sometimes gravelly.
The grapes are grown according to the principles of the sustainable agriculture and the plots are covered with grass. Treatments are used only when needed.
The Viognier wine being a blend of different terroirs, the grapes are therefore vinified separately, plot by plot. They are also harvested manually, then pressed by slow pressing.
The fermentation and the ageing phases are done in the same containers and in the following proportions :
Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in the presence of native yeasts and bacteria, and the ageing phase is carried out on fine lees and lasts approximately 7 months.
The musts are then racked, blended, filtered and then bottled.
The bottle is sealed with a DIAM5® cork stopper which guarantees the absence of TCA contamination of the wine (or cork taste)
