DESCRIPTION


The cuvée LES FIGUIERS is a blend of a majority of Roussanne and of Marsanne. The vines are about fifty years old and provide a yield of 40 hl / ha.

TERROIR

The plots of Saint-Péray wines from the GRIPA estate are located in the Les Putiers sector, where the terroir presents two types of recently formed soil :

  • A soil made up of torrential alluvial deposits dating back to the Mindel period, one of the last glaciation periods which took place two million years ago. The deposits are made up of limestone blocks and pebbles embedded in a sandy-gravelly matrix.
  • A recently formed soil, consisting of gravelly and micaceous elements embedded in a clay matrix and which come from the erosion of the crystalline base which is below and which outcrops around Tournon-Sur-Rhône, it is the Granite de Tournon.


WINEGROWING & WINEMAKING


The grapes are harvested manually and then slowly pressed. The juice obtained is directly vinified in oak barrels, where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place.

An ageing phase for 8 to 10 months is carried out only in 228 liter oak barrels and on fine lees which are regularly stirred.

Bottling takes place in the fall one year after the harvest.

LES FIGUIERS est un vin rond aux arômes délicats et anidsés qui accompagne à merveille des poissons à chair délicate, notamment un bar cuit au four sur lequel les notes anisées du vin lui vont à merveille.
On le servira également sur des filets de volaille saisis à la poêle, ou des crustacés de type langoustines.
