TERROIR

The PANORAMA ROSÉ cuvée is a rosé wine made from three red grape varieties from three different plots:

  • Poudrière a locality on which the old vines of the estate are planted,
  • Galon and Malacare, two localities which give juicy grapes of great finesse..

Each of these parcels presents a distinct terroir:

  • The Poudrière, plot, facing south, is the lowest in altitude of all the parcels of the domain, and is located in a hot and dry area. However, the presence of water in the subsoil ensures the hydration of the vines. The soil is composed of Helvetian sands, more or less marly or molassic depending on the place. Its formation dates from 16 to 11 million years ago.

  • The Malacare parcel is made up of terraces facing southwest, at an altitude of 310-350 m. Its strong sunshine makes it the earliest place of the domain. The soil is composed of stratified conglomerates, with pebbles embedded in marl and sand dating from the continental Tortonian (between -7 and -5 My).

  • The place called Galon, located at 430-450 m of altitude and oriented North-East. Its soil dates from the ancient Quaternary, 1 million years ago, and rests on the pebbled terraces of the Durance: it is made up of Cretaceous limestone and flint, red clayey silt, sand and fragments of molassic rocks.

WINEGROWING & WINEMAKING

The vines are cultivated according to the principles of the Organic Farming.

The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted, totally destemmed and crushed. A part of the grapes is directly pressed while the other part is subject to a maceration of 6 to 8 hours before pressing. Both musts undergo a static cold settling of 18 hours. Only the free-run juice is retained for fermentation at low temperature in thermo-regulated tanks.

Once fermentation is complete, the must is racked into concrete vats where it is matured on fine lees for 6 months before being bottled without fining or filtration.

The sulphits addition is very light during the whole process (less than 2g per hl).

This rosé has a very good cellar ageing capacity. We tested it with the 2014 vintage which, 7 years later, surprised us with its freshness and fruitiness.
