OUR OPINION: succulent! This vintage offers a lot of finesse and elegance. It is a real delicacy, perfectly balanced. Great class!
This wine is produced by blending a majority of 70-year-old Grenache vines with a 50-year-old Mourvèdre grapes. It is also an blend of two parcels, since the old vines of Grenache are located on the plot Piedlong, and the vineyards of Mourvèdre on the place called Pignan.
The PIEDLONG wine was formerly produced by the Domaine de la Roquète that the Brunier family bought in 1986 before its definitive merger with the Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe in 2017.
The estate works according to the Sustainable Agriculture principles : no treatment is carried out systematically but only when necessary. The soils are amended with natural compost. The fight against insects is carried out using the mating disruption principles, thus avoiding any insecticide use.
Harvested manually, the grapes are sorted twice in the vineyard and a third time in the cellar. They are lightly crushed, destemming is selective. The winemaking method is the same as the one used for the red wine Vieux Télégraphe, namely a traditional fermentation of 30 and 40 days in concrete vats and wooden vats followed by an ageing in 60 hl oak foudres for 20 to 22 months.
The wine is neither fined nor filtered before bottling.
