DESCRIPTION

The estate produces several single-varietal wines under the label Les Vignes d'à Côté. This name locates the place where the grapes generally come from, it designates the vineyard located next to the one planted in AOP areas.

The Syrah cuvée is therefore a 100% Syrah red wine made from a blend of plots located in the areas authorized by the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes designation, which offers a wide variety of different terroirs.

TERROIR

The Syrah plots are located in different villages of the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes designation which bring together very different terroirs : on the Rhône stream right bank, we find the famous granitic soils of the AOP designations as well as sedimentary rocks, while on the left bank, the soils are more recent, formed by the Isère stream alluvium, sometimes sandy, sometimes gravelly.

The Syrah cuvée is a blend of millions years old granitic soils and of more recent alluvial soils dating from the Quaternary.

WINEGROWING & WINEMAKING

The grapes are grown according to the principles of the sustainable agriculture, and the plots are covered with grass. The treatments are used only if needed or in case of bad weather.

The grapes are vinified separately, plot by plot because the final blend of the terroirs is done before bottling. The harvest is partially destemmed and then crushed.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, the juice maceration with the skins lasts about three weeks in open vats, then the must is aged for 7 months, half in oak barrels and half in tanks.
The musts of the different plots are then blended and bottled.

The bottle is sealed with a DIAM3® cork stopper which guarantees the absence of TCA contamination of the wine (or cork taste)
