Terroir

PLANTING DATE: N/A.

LOCATION: Blend of:

  • two Premier Cru plots: Étréchy 1er Cru and Cuis 1er Cru.

    • Étréchy 1er Cru consists of old vines with South and South-West exposure. The soils are cold and very poor, leading to a late ripening of the grapes which brings precious tension to the wines.

    • Cuis 1er Cru consists of young vines with mostly Northern exposure. The soils are also cold, grape ripening is late, and their acidity level is high.

  • a plot located in Mesnil-sur-Oger: Lisse en Champagne.

EXPOSURE: South; South-West; North.

SOILS: composed of CAMPANIAN (Upper Cretaceous) chalk and its weathered byproducts (chalk gravel). Its very pure chalk content and natural porosity provide it with a water retention capacity that is highly beneficial for the vines.

RACKING DATE: July 2021.

Sommelier's Note

"Les Horizons champagne is intended to be representative of the diversity of the André Robert estate terroirs, and the profile of its soils and subsoils; it forms an overview of the plots, hence its name. A successful gamble, as this wine possesses a strong identity: mineral, almost crystalline, it surprises with its suppleness and delicate mouthfeel. It is a wonderful discovery that will please lovers of vibrant champagnes without excessive tension."
