Terroir

VINE AGE: 18 years.

LOCATION: vines planted on the La Fussière 1er Cru climate; white wine production is rare there (only 5% of the total volume of the appellation).

EXPOSURE: full south-facing hillside, which runs along almost the entire length of the premier cru slope. 300 to 350 m altitude. Vincent Bachelet produces the finest wines of the appellation here.

SOILS: bedrock composed of JURASSIC limestone marls covered with scree and silt which ensure excellent drainage for the slope.

Viticulture & Winemaking

HARVEST: manual.

YIELD: N/A.

SORTING: N/A.

WINEMAKING: immediate pressing of the berries and stems upon arrival at the winery. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic fermentation.

AGING: 11 months on fine lees in new barrels (20%) and older barrels (80%). Regular lees stirring (bâtonnage) during the first months of aging.

BOTTLING: after racking and resting in tanks for 1 month, fining and filtration.

CORK: DIAM5®, specially designed to guarantee the absence of any contamination of the wine by the cork (known as "cork taint"), thanks to the use of the flower of the cork previously cleared of the molecule responsible for this aromatic defect.
