The orange wines, also called maceration wines, are made from white grape varieties vinified with skins. Remember that white wine as we traditionally consume it is produced from white grape varieties which are immediately pressed to get a clear juice to be fermented.
The must of an orange wine is not immediately pressed, it macerates with the grapes skins, a process that confers the wine its orange or red color and a slightly tannic structure. The duration of maceration varies from a few days to several months. Those atypical wines offer an aromatic that has nothing in common with the traditional white wine's fragrances.
Generous and floral nose, with scents of rose, lychees and dried apricots. The palate is lively and elegantly scented. A very fresh and very floral vintage !
