DESCRIPTION

PANORAMA ROUGE is the new name for the former MALACARE cuvée. Sylvain MOREY renamed it for greater clarity, as Malacare is a single-plot name whereas the wine itself is an assemblage.
The parcels and grape varieties comprising PANORAMA ROUGE remain strictly identical.

Terroir

PLANTING DATES: 1955 to 2018

LOCATION: Blend of parcels situated at an average altitude of 320 meters.

EXPOSURE: Varied, depending on the parcel.

SOIL: PANORAMA ROUGE combines three distinct terroirs across these four parcels:

  • Malacare (terraced, South-West exposure, 310-350 m altitude). High sun exposure makes this the estate's earliest-ripening site. Soil consists of stratified conglomerates with pebbles embedded in TORTONIAN marls and sand.
The Carignan soil at Rourabeau shares the same geological profile.
  • Old-vine Syrah grapes come from Capriers (430-450 m altitude, North-East exposure). Soil dates from the QUATERNARY period, formed of Cretaceous limestone and flint, red clay loam, sand, and molassique rock fragments.
  • Grenache Noir grapes come from Saint-Jean (due South exposure, 400 m altitude). Soil dates from the MARINE TORTONIAN and features a layer of blue marl—one of the domain's finest qualitative terroirs.

Viticulture & Vinification

HARVEST: Hand-harvested

SORTING: In the vineyard and at the winery

VINIFICATION:

  • Complete destemming. No crushing.

  • 12-day maceration.

  • Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts.

  • Blending of press and free-run juices after maceration.

AGING: 18 months in wooden foudres and concrete tanks

BOTTLING: March 2025, without fining or filtration

CLOSURE: Natural cork

Sommelier's Note

"Remarkably fresh for a Southern wine, this vintage surprises with its lively, charming, and deeply refreshing profile. The nose opens with a burst of crunchy red fruits, highlighted by a noble touch of sweet spices. On the palate, the mouthfeel is silky, crisp, and savory—a juicy, perfectly balanced red wine that will delight lovers of lighter, fruit-forward wines!"
