Terroir

PLANTING DATE: N/A.

LOCATION: Lieu-dit Les Renardes.

Situated in the northern extension of Clos du Roi, it produces substantial red wines with very long aging potential.

EXPOSURE: East.

TERROIR : The subsoil consists of a marl-limestone bedrock dating from the Upper Jurassic, specifically the MIDDLE OXFORDIAN stage, covered by a shallow clay surface layer resulting from the weathering of the bedrock. Only 50 cm thick, these surface clays are easily penetrated by the vine roots, which can then readily reach the underlying and highly fissured limestone bedrock, ensuring excellent natural drainage.

Viticulture & Winemaking

HARVEST: Manual.

YIELD: N/A.

SORTING: In the vineyard.

WINEMAKING: The grapes are placed in temperature-controlled vats for a maceration period of 12 to 15 days, with 1 or 2 punch-downs (pigeages) per day. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are completed. The wine rests in vats for settling before aging.

AGING: 18 months in 228-liter "pièces" (oak barrels), with 75% new oak.

BOTTLING: No fining. Bottled after light filtration.

CLOSURE: Natural cork.

Sommelier's Note

"A true gem of intense and complex flavors: red and black fruits, spices, blood orange, and violet, all wrapped in a juicy and silky texture. Simply magnificent!"
