LOCATION: High on the slope at the legendary Les Renardes climat. Neighboring the Clos du Roi, this plot is renowned for producing Pinot Noirs with formidable concentration and legendary longevity.
EXPOSURE: East-facing.
GEOLOGY : The vineyard sits on an Oxfordian marl-limestone base. A thin, 50cm layer of clay-rich topsoil allows the vines to quickly anchor their roots into the fractured limestone bedrock. This geological setup provides natural irrigation control and imparts a profound mineral backbone to the wine.
HARVEST: Hand-picked at optimal maturity.
WINEMAKING: The grapes are vinified in temperature-regulated vats. The 12 to 15-day maceration includes daily punch-downs (pigeages) to extract the noble tannins of the 2016 vintage. After fermentation, the wine is settled before beginning its maturation.
AGING: Aged for 18 months in traditional Burgundy barrels (228L), with a high proportion (75%) of new oak to support the wine's powerful structure.
BOTTLING: Unfined, followed by a very light filtration to preserve the wine's integrity.
CLOSURE: Natural cork.
