Terroir

AGE OF VINES: 15 - 25 years.

LOCATION: a blend of plots located in the "lieux-dits" La Source de Saint-Jean and Les Usclades.

EXPOSURE: East, West, and South.

TERROIR :

  • The La Source de Saint-Jean vineyard is fed by numerous runoff veins flowing from the northern slope of Mont Ventoux. This precious water, available deep in the soil, allows the vines to withstand summer heatwaves and produce beautiful, juicy grapes.
The soil consists of a thick layer of hillslope colluvium (clay and sand) resting on a marly-limestone substrate from the MIDDLE STAMPIAN period, known as Sainte-Marguerite limestones and marls.

  • The Les Usclades vineyard: with 4 hectares of vines within a total area of 11 hectares of forests and wooded banks, these plots consist of different terraces, each with a different exposure: East, West, and South.
The East-facing Grenache clusters, fresh and juicy, and the West-facing ones, more concentrated, are blended into the LA SOURCE cuvée.

Viticulture & Winemaking

HARVEST: manual.

YIELD: 20 hl/ha.

SORTING: in the vineyard and at the cellar.

WINEMAKING: 100% destemming. Maceration in concrete vats for 7 days, followed by pressing and racking into vats for alcoholic and malolactic fermentations.

AGEING: 18 months in concrete and enamelled vats.

BOTTLING: after light filtration.

CORK: DIAM®5 cork, specifically designed to ensure the absence of any cork taint, using cork flowers previously cleared of the molecules responsible for this aromatic deviation.

Sommelier's Note

"The 2023 vintage of La Source is particularly successful! Its concentrated, rich, and dense juice offers vibrant fruit in the glass: crushed dark berries, Morello cherry, and slightly peaty aromas—it's superb. While waiting for its peak (2030-2035), don't hesitate to decant it an hour before serving!"
