Terroir

PLANTING DATES: 1956 / 1967 / 1974.

LOCATION: A blend of 3 plots: Les Lambardes Village, La Bressonne Village, and Les Chimbres Village.

EXPOSURE: North-East.

GEOLOGY: A blend of three distinct terroirs, combining power, fruitiness, and finesse in the wine:

  • Les Lambardes Village: Altitude of 220 meters. Planted in 1967. Soil of fluvial origin, composed of limestone pebbles and gravel, sands, feldspathic quartz, and calcareous silts carried during the QUATERNARY period, 3 million years ago. On these well-drained soils, the old vines yield low quantities and wines of great elegance.
  • La Bressonne Village plot: Altitude of 210 meters. Planted in 1956. Soil formed by a foot-of-slope complex where detrital material was brought by torrential streams draining the Burgundian plateaus, forming a very broad alluvial fan. It mainly consists of limestone blocks, pebbles, sands, marls, and clays. In this heavy, thick soil, the mossy old vines with low yields produce powerful wines.
  • Les Chimbres Village plot: Altitude of 210 meters. Planted in 1974. Soil identical to La Bressonne Village: heavy and composed of limestone blocks, pebbles, sands, marls, and clays. The vines here produce fruity and lively wines.

Sommelier's Note

"It draws a joyful 'oh, lovely!' from your lips! This elegant and grandly classic vintage displays a gourmet basket of raspberry and crushed blackberries with a very flattering light floral touch. The palate is silky and fresh—you'll be reaching for another glass! While it is still young, be sure to decant it 2 hours before tasting so that it may express its full potential."
