Terroir

VINE AGE: 40 years old.

LOCATION: Classified Grand Cru locality Florimont. Named "blooming mountain" since the Middle Ages due to its spring blossoming, this exceptional site is an outlier hill that survived the formation of the Rhine Rift Valley. It is characterized by sedimentary strata of rare diversity.

EXPOSURE: East. Gently sloping, between 225 and 290 meters above sea level. The atypical arc-shaped hill of Florimont offers favorable sunlight for optimal grape ripening.

TERROIR: The soil consists of limestone scree and sandstone residue dating from the OLIGOCENE and QUATERNARY periods, highly pure marine limestone from the BAJOCIAN (Middle Jurassic), and a deep layer of hard rocks known as "encrinite limestone" dating from the MUSCHELKALK (Middle Triassic).

Riesling from the Florimont is an opulent wine with ripe acidity; it is elegant and built for long cellaring.

Viticulture & Vinification

HARVEST: Hand-harvested.

YIELD: N/A.

SORTING: At the winery.

VINIFICATION: Immediate pressing of whole bunches in large oak casks (foudres) for alcoholic and malolactic fermentations (indigenous yeasts) and aging.

AGING: 11 months in large oak casks (foudres).

BOTTLING: After filtration through diatomaceous earth and sheet filter.

CLOSURE: Natural cork.

Sommelier's Note

"A great terroir-driven Riesling of exemplary precision and finesse, opening with a generous nose where initial smoky accents give way to vibrant notes of mandarin, candied lemon, and a delicate touch of honey. On the palate, the attack is direct and resolutely mineral, revealing a pure, tightly wound juice. The long, intensely mouth-watering finish lingers with elegance on nuances of citrus and honey—a perfectly balanced Riesling Grand Cru, and an real favorite!"
