Terroir

PLANTING DATES: 1959, 1974 & 1997.

LOCATION: A blend of three plots—Le Petit Clos, Les Pierres, and La Bergerie—each bringing distinct characteristics to perfectly balance the final cuvée.

EXPOSURE: East, South-East, South.

GEOLOGY: The CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET VILLAGE cuvée comes from a blend of three plots that provide distinct profiles, creating a perfectly balanced wine:

  • Le Petit Clos plot (East-facing; 250m altitude; vines planted in 1997): Fluvial soil composed of limestone pebbles and gravel, sand, feldspathic quartz, and calcareous silts carried during the QUATERNARY period. Nestled in the heart of the village, sheltered by houses and an old wall, it enjoys an early-ripening micro-climate and yields rich wines.

  • Les Pierres plot (South-facing; 220m altitude; vines planted in 1997): Soil identical to Le Petit Clos but with a thick layer of clay. Its uniqueness comes from its location next to the village's former washhouse (*lavoir*), leading to early ripeness but limited yields due to frequent frost exposure.
  • La Bergerie plot (South-East facing; 240m altitude; vines planted in 1959 and 1974): Soil identical to the other two plots, with deep clays but a higher concentration of limestone stones and gravel. This plot, farmed by the estate under a lease agreement (*fermage*), is located near the Château de Chassagne-Montrachet and produces lively, structured grapes that complement the riper fruit from the other plots.

Viticulture & Winemaking

HARVEST: Manual.

YIELD: N/A.

SORTING: In the vineyard and at the winery.

WINEMAKING: Pneumatic whole-cluster pressing. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 350-liter barrels. Full malolactic fermentation.

AGING: 18 months on fine lees in 350-liter barrels (20% new oak). No lees stirring (*bâtonnage*). Blending in stainless steel tanks followed by 2 months of further resting.

BOTTLING: After casein fining. Unfiltered.

CORK: Natural cork.

Sommelier's Note

"The blending of these plots in this vintage has produced a delicate cuvée with a mineral dominance and light toasted notes. We find typical mandarin orange notes among the citrus profile. The palate is fresh, tonic, and lemony. Well-suited for aging in the cellar."
